I don't know where to post this so I guess here will work. Sorry I think this is going to be a bit randomly written. Okay I have been working out my own emotions and my therapist suggested I write what happened in detail down on paper. So pencil and paper, not type it. I've never been able to say full detail and i prolly never will.
Is it helpful to write it out? I mean I have posted on here what happened but again not in detail. Is it worse if you can see it in your own writing or does it help? I have been told by a few on here to write out somethings. And I just can't seem to get out of the rut I'm in.
Taking my therapist's and some on here's advice I started writing it out and to me it is making it worse..... I didn't realize how much I still suppressed until I started writing it out. So I guess I'm wondering does it help in the long run? I don't know........ Sorry. :/ Any advice I would gladly take in.

It does help....for one it helps you to sort through all the feelings and emotions that came with it. Once you sort through emotions and feelings then you can begin to heal. Stay strong

I really thought that it would help writing it out and it made it worse for me. I have dealt with the emotions surrounding it at times, but chose not to think about the details of that day. I journal at times about other things and it helps give me perspective, but this brought up flashbacks and nightmares for me. Again, this is just my experience and I know it helps alot of people.....just listen to yourself if you feel uncomfortable and don't push until you know you are really ready to face the pain head on about the details of the rape.

I myself and still trying to write what happened to me in detail and I haven't been able to do it for my self, so I started to write stories of similar things that happened to other 'people' and I think that it is helping me write my own story as well. If you need anything I'm here for you.

It def. helps. I am actually going through the same process now...but, it is hard. And it will only get harder before you feel some relief. The pain will last awhile but the pressure and emotions that have you in that day to day fog will slowly disappear. You should write it out on paper. You dont even have to read it to anyone...

I think the initial effect will ellicit strong emotions. However, you get to choose the time and place those emotions surface. If you feel they may be too strong to deal with alone, talk with your therapist or someone you trust to be there and/or available. You mentioned the realization of many suppressed feelings. If these feelings are not dealt with they can surface at unsuspecting moments and/or without support available. I think the progress you are making is tough and difficult to handle at times, but a necessary move in the right direction. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here with you.

I have written everything down in my journal since my rapes, which were almost 5 months ago. I have been through many journals now, the writing seems to help me. I have one journal I cannot read, it is the one with the details. I still journal and am still in counseling. Hope this helps.
