I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEM.... I WAS RAPED WHEN I WAS 7, 12 AND THEN AGAIN WHEN I WAS 19..... I WILL BE 21 AND I AM STILL HAVING VERY BAD INTENSE AND SEVERE FLASHBACKS.... THEY GET SO INTENSE THAT I CAN FEEL THE PAIN OF HIM BEING INSIDE OF ME..... I AM SCARED TO SLEEP BECAUSE OF THE NIGHTMARES AND I AM SCARED TO STAY AWAKE BECAUSE I AM SCARED THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO BREAK INTO MY APARTMENT AND GET ME AND RAPE ME AGAIN..... I TALKED TO MY PDOC ABOUT IT AND RIGHT NOW SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING ME WITH PTSD... SHE HAS ME ON AN SSRI MEDICATION (ABILIFY) FOR IT TO SEE IF IT HELPS ME OUT ANY..... I HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR A WEEK NOW AND SO FAR I HAVE NOTICED NOTHING.... I AM SCARED AND WITH ALL OF THIS COMING AT ME LIKE IT IS I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO KILL MYSELF SO THAT IT WILL ALL JUST STOP.... SOMEONE PLEASE JUST HELP ME OUT AND TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO ABOUT THIS..... I AM SCARED SHITLESS

i get them too. i think the only way for them to get less intense is if you talk to a psych about it, they deal with PTSD which it sounds like you have, they do things like EMDR which is supposed to be really helpful, you may still get flashbacks but with EMDR it helps lessen the intensity and emotion of it. i really think you should see someone and tell them about this. If ur not already.
And with ur new meds, it is unfortunatly going to take more than a week before you start noticing a difference, its about 6weeks before it has full effect, keep talking to ur PDOC about it stay clam it will get better soon. it seems like everything is slowly getting in place for you. try and stay strong. I agree with KrymsonBi. Try to stay calm and keep reminding yourself they will pass - do something you enjoy to comfort yourself as a positive distraction. Here for you if you need to offload or be distracted x

When I got flashbacks I would start to sing along with the radio or dance. You need to distract your self from the thought until it passes.

even though i was rape 8 years ago i still have nightmares and some night i can not go to sleep.i can said it is hard for me because i have to go to school and forcus on that, but i can not forcus if i am sleep in classes. what i like to when i get nightmares is talk to people online or listen to music until i seek professional help.

I know you are scared hon, you've been through a lot, you need to continue talking about it during therapy, keep tracks of the flashbacks, and learn to ground when this happens I have PTSD and I know how difficult it can be, and how scary it can be... I'll message you.

I know how you feel I am so scared of running into the guys who raped me i barly leave my trailer any more because when i saw him the last time i had a major panic attack I hope you get better

I have come to accept the flashbacks I have as a notice that something needs to change.They are worse when I am physically stressed. I don't know all my triggers and that makes them hard to avoid. They come when I sleep and you can't stop sleeping. TALK to someone, even if that someone is on this forum. You have done alot in admitting your fear. We are all afraid of something. Don't let the fear steal from you the essence of who you are. Your attacker couldn't defeat you - you are alive! Keep it that way, fight and win by staying alive! I only found this site today. Your words inspired me, someone else will benefit too. Keep the words coming...honesty breeds contentment.

I used to get them really bad and I alsways felt the rapist inside of me too. I hated that. Medication can take a month to start working so don't judge it yet. Listen to your therapist...they are paid big bucks because they know what theyare doing. The more I've worked through my rape with my therapist the more these nightmares and flashbacks have subsided. My therapist tells me that they keep resurfacing because you are ready to deal with them. You can get through this!

I know how you feel, I still get all those things, I still hate men and I can't do anything about that. I don't know what to do either its been 4 years for me, I am still in pain and sometimes when a man looks at me I will feel uncomfortable.
