After being raped I went through a period where any physical contact, especially with people I am not close with was extremely uncomfortable. On occasion it would trigger flashbacks and it took quite a while to get to a point where physical contact of any kind was ok. It’s been 9 months since I was raped and I’m finally at a point where I’m fairly comfortable with it. I’m in the early stages of dating now, with someone who I had previously been friends with, I like him and trust him but after our first night together (just sleeping in the same bed, no sexual contact) I’ve been feeling extremely unwell. He’s the first person I’ve been with since it happened and I’m wondering if this is normal. It’s like a nautious feeling, like I’m going to vomit, and it gets worse the more physical contact I have with him. I really like this guy and I don’t want this to ruin my potential relationship with him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, anyone been through anything similar?
