You're not crazy at all. I never really got over my first rape, and that was 13 years ago. It's tainted my entire life. I've had a hard time sleeping since the last rape, but my nightmares aren't specific anymore. I just have a general sense of fear and unease.

Sometimes the past isn't the past. Objects in the rearview mirror really are closer than they appear, ya know?

you are not going crazy.It's been almost five years for me and I still have the nightmaes and flashbacks. It's hard to get it out of your head sometimes. Use your journal, or talk to someone you trust. It really can help. :)

I still have nightmares about things that happened when I was in middle school and before. Now Im 22. I think had I gotten help a long time ago, that would be different. But I only just started therapy this year.

Oh, and youre not going crazy. Let me make that point. Your brain is just dealing with the trauma in its own way - a very common way. There is still a lot of stuff that needs to be processed and sorted out. And until all that has been completed, it cant be filed away. Thats how my therapist put it (using the computer files example). I have nightmares all the time. But hopefully I can put it in the "case closed" section of my evidence room.

Your not crazy its been about 3 1/2 to 4 years since mine and i'm still haunted by the nightmares and i always feel like he's watching me everytime i'm with my husband or when i'm out in town by myself.
