Hi tommrow is thanksgiving Its going to be a very hard day for me. 4 years ago On thanksgiving I was raped Ever since that day every year around thanksgiving I start having nightmares Its terrible Last night I woke up screaming I wish that they would go away Its terrible I have not slept in 5 days because of the nightmares.

i'm so sorry that that happened to you.....if i were you i would protect yourself in any way you can.....lock your door to your room, sleep with a stuffed animal, put on soft pajamas.....you can also go to a safe place, like an imaginary place....my place has no windows or doors and i'm with friens....there my rapist can't hurt me and i'm with people who love me and care about me....hope this helped!!!! if you ever need to talk, i'm here

My hated day is new years.
But I say lets start a new tradition....FIESTA....BEACH PARTY...
BRING SAND IN THE HOUSE,,,,,,or a little kids blow up pool =) wear water wings, a snorkel, hang lights, make punch, or a cocktail, put on authentic music, lock urself in for the day! have your own day!

I'm doing it this year, it will no longer be new years eve for me. I dont care if i have to get a hotel room! you could do a spa day at home too! Think of something like this, something off the wall, totally NON THANKS GIVING. SOMETHING FOR YOU!

What great suggestions and I hope they will help you to overcome....
I will also take these suggestions into account as my hated day is April 30th and I suffer terribly from nightmares as well so I can relate to what you are going through....I spent so many nights awake because I feared the "mares"....But I have learned to sleep as best I can, when I can....My thoughts and prayers be with during this time...

I am truly sorry that happened to you. It's very difficult to deal with. What's going on is a defense mechanism, which is completely understandable. You went through something very traumatic. Is there anyone that you trust that can keep you company during Thanksgiving, or just in general? I used to wake up in a cold sweat, feeling afraid and crying. I sought out one of the stuffed animals I had kept from when I was a little girl and cuddling with it at night. I was still tense and afraid, but, like when I was little, it helped to soothe some of the fear. Maybe a journal could help. When you wake up afraid or from a bad dream, you can write down your feelings in it, to at least give them an outlet. If you need to talk, I will lend you an ear. You're not alone.
