Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Well, I've been home from the hospital for 5 weeks tomorrow. PE's in both lungs, after being on Birth Control used to shrink an 8cm ovarian cyst. I was told to stay resting so that the cyst wouldn't burst. So I did for 5 weeks and the doctors think that's what caused the PEs.
I am like so many of you, searching for answers. I often wonder if the BC really caused the clots.... or do I have some genetic factor lingering that isn't known yet. They will retest me in 6 months for clotting disorders, since the tests in the hospital were done 2 days after I was on blood thinners.
This has been such a test of my faith, my mental and physical strength. I know it has been a huge test on my family and friends.
Today though I am going to celebrate and be thankful to those people who have helped me get this far. Maybe you have someone in your life too?
Today I am going to send a text message, place a phone call or write a letter to those who have inspired me. I hope I don't miss anyone. I will start with all of you on this website. Thank you for sharing your stories, and your prayers, and your encouragement. It amazes me how much each of you have been such an active and positive part of my healing process.
I thank God for each of you. Take good care of yourselves, and take it one day at a time as we heal and travel down this road in life.

I'm 5 weeks out of hospital today so you could almost say we are "PE buddies"...
You are so welcome and I also add my gratitude to everyone here. Being able to express the emotions and fears has helped me with my healing so much, and to go on with my life.
