Where are you buying test strips?

I had been able to find boxes of test strips on Amazon (my ins was not covering them) bu currently can only find boxes of 48 that will expire later this year. Would take me much longer than that to get through them.

Primary reason I was not going through the medical supplier I was (Edgepark) was that they required reporting of the results to Allere. I figured if I am paying for them, I don't need to report to anyone (it was kind of a PITA). Now I am told there is coverage, so I am willing to report, but Edgepark is THE WORST company to deal with over the phone, continual transfers to different departments, waiting for another operator, ugh!

I can't seem to find single boxes to buy anywhere on the 'net.

To add, just got off the phone with the supplier Edgepark and they say the only way they can sell is if I stipulate with Allere to test every week (!!!!) and report. Testing every week is just stupid.

Maybe this is when I switch to Xarelto....

Testing every week IS stupid, whether you're home testing or lab testing. If you test weekly, you need to buy more strips so I can see why they'd want you to do that.

I don't think you will be able to buy test strips for the INRation outside of buying them directly through Edgepark/Alere. I used to get them through amazon as I could get 48 strips for $225 as opposed to getting 12 strips for $500 going through insurance with Edgepark/Alere. And yes, that was my cost. You could switch to using the Coaguchek from Roche as many people on this forum are using that machine. Strips are still available on amazon. Of course, that would mean buying a new monitor...

Ended up buying 48 off Amazon. Probably will expire, but cheaper than the Allere blackmail scheme

I also have Coaguchek XS and buy Roche strips out of pocket, since my insurance doesn't cover Alere.

My brother and I have found the best price through Ebay of all places-- 6 for $45 or 48 strips for $220.

I bought the mega 48 pack as I couldn't find the 6 pack....

Interesting, just went back and now seeing other options including the 6 pack and 48 for 185. When I bought mine last May the only available option was 48 for 240
