By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Does any one know if Coumadin can cause epigastric pain. I generally take it at night but lately have been getting a lot of pain after about an hour . It is worse when the dose is higher
I've also been getting chest pain that is waking me up at night.
I am also aware it could be completely unrelated . Just wondering if any one else has experienced/ heard of tis.
If so any idea how to get rid of it?

GI issues are a reported side effect of warfarin. I can't speak to the higher dosage being the cause, just that in general warfarin can cause GI upset, like bloating, gas, etc. Maybe taking it with food would help or try gas x to see if that helps. You can also check with your pharmacist to see if he has any insight.

Yes, I had the same problem while I was on warfarin. I never had GI problems before. I would definately check with your doctor about adding omeprazole or at least an H2 blocker while you're on warfarin and for a while after you stop. I took omeprazole while I was on warfarin, but stopped shortly after I stopped the warfarin. Bad idea. I wound up in ICU with a massive GI bleed and I was OFF warfarin at the time.
