Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Although switching to brand name coumadin has been the best thing thats happened since my PE I am no longer in a haze, dizzy and my muscles have stopped aching so much and cramping. I feel clear headed and less depressed. However, the main reason why I was switched is to see if this odd problem I have with peeing would go away, its been 4 days since Ive been on real coumadin and while the above side effects almost immediately went away within first day of coumadin, my frequent peeing and sore clitorus area has not stopped, its on and off and rather uncomforable and annoying. I know warfarin takes 2 weeks at least to get out of your system so i dont know if this is going to take time or what? Im just soo upset, bc other than this problem I feel great. This makes me so sad. I hate this feeling if anyone has gotten any information please let me know. I am going to be making an appointment with a urologist and going to obgyn soon to rule out any gyn infections...Ive been tested for urinary infections numerous times and I have had cultures done from my urine and everything is normal!
I hate this mystery I just want to be comfortable.
I was looking forward to actually have a sex life again after almost 5 months, bc the coumadin had made me feel sooo much better but I cant even think of doing anything with the way I feel ugh. Sorry for too much info... IM just 21 and want my life back.
So Im off to the urologist next monday, Im so scared theres something really wrong, this is so uncomfortable I just want it to be fixed. I really hope its fixable. If anyone has any news let me know!
I don't know if this will help...and im so pleased that you are going to a urologist...but, the other day i was watching a programme about medical problems, and there was a girl on there that constantly felt like she needed the toilet, and she was experiencing lots of abdominal pain..she went to see a urologist and it turned out that it was caused by stress!? don't know if that helps, but just thought that may make you feel a bit better x x
But since they have increased my dosage to 15 mg I have woken up everynight barely making it to the bathroom. And not always dry:0(
It is also hard as females if we get a UTI I know I usually start downing extra cranberry juice which is a big no-no for us now
P.S. its the worst at night I get up every 2 to 3 hours to pee. I probably pee like 4 times a night now, I dunno how many times I go in a day!!!!!!
I used to get up once toward the end of the night to pee, sometimes which is normal but now I know I never used to pee so many times in the middle of the night its just nutz.
I will keep you posted and you keep me posted if you find anything out!
Yikes feel like I'm back in hs learning my cycle and being prepared _ugghh

I will keep you updated!
I had my visit with the Urologist on Monday, and explained what was going on with me, he told me this is a very common condition caled intersistial cystistis ( not sure on spelling) which is pretty much the symthoms of a UTI without any bacterial present, he said its most commonly caused by traumatic event to the body and stress ( which is more then true with me lol) He said that is not a bad medical problem or anything dangerous, and that although there is no "cure" there are many many treatments you just have to find what works for you.
I have been given 3 weeks of a medication called vesicare that relaxes the muscles in your bladder from spasming, hes thinking this may retrain the muscles for me. Essentially it is bladder spasms and inflamation of the bladder, this can also be caused by medication too, so maybee combination coumadin and stress in my case.
Although I am happy its nothing serious, I am sad that it may take a couple different treatments to resolve it.
I try to think positive, I developed TMJ two weeks out of the hospital, and it did last a few months and was very painful but I was treated by an amazing ENT and had a bite splint made from my orthadontist, and its like pretty much gone! So if this condition is much like tmj that its caused by stress. then it all makes sense now!
I have been told to fill my prescription for adavan that I was prescribed for anxiety, I just tried to tough it out bc Im sick of taking pills already. But interesting enough, the dr said adavan is prescribed to treat this also, so along with the pill ive been given I will start taking my adavan again, and see if this helps.
...Im stubborn and I still cant help but think that this is all the coumadin, but whatever the case im thankful its not serious im just hoping that I will be able to get it under control like my TMJ.
I go back to the urologist on Dec. 1st so I will update again...
Ive been on Vesicare for a little over a week now, i have a total of 3 weeks of treatment before I see the dr again, but I have had marked improvement in my feelings of having to pee all the time, its been great, I do feel that same feeling for a minute here or there but maybee I actually do really have to pee then lol. Im glad the meds are working. I hope that my bladder muscles are being retrained and I wont need to take the pills after this. The only side effect Ive noted is some dry mouth but no biggy, and I asked the dr if there were any serious side effects and he said not at all, and the he doesnt even check liver functions on this type of pill which means its really not a heavy duty medication, plus he said he gave me a small dose, which was 5mg. So so far so good.
Saw urologist yesterday, told him the pills have been working, this issue seems to be resolving very slowly... we talked about the fact that I feel its the coumadin and the evidence I have gathered from my lovely friends on here! He said he wouldnt be surprised if this was from the coumadin...then jokingly he said "do u want to fund me to do a study with all of your friends" lol I wish I had tons of money Id love to show that this medication actually does have side effects! I was really happy that this dr. is open to thinking it could be the coumadin.
In any case I have at least 6 1/3 months still on this crap, so I will continue taking the vesicare, until either the issue goes away or Im off coumadin and it stops.
But I would urge any of you still experiecing this annoying feeling to check out the urologist, and see if you can get some vesicare or similar, it is not a heavy dutie pill, the only side effects are dry mouth, constipation, and occasional blurred vision. The only side effect Ive experienced was the dry mouth for the first couple days, other then that everything is fine.
