Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

When I had my first PE I was 8 weeks pregnant. I was admitted to hospital and put on clexane injections. As the pregnancy. Progresses it became more difficult for me to breathe and I was put on oxygen 24/7 because my sats were too low for my baby and she wasn't growing. At one stage I went into premmie labour and was hospitalised. My Cardiologist and OB/GYN were not very hopeful about the pregnancy ( I had previous issues with my heart and previous premmie births because of another medical condition.
I was told that if he would fight to save me but not my baby( he wanted me around to raise my 4 other children)
My mother was asked to help out with the other children whilst I was admitted for a couple of weeks. She had to miss a trip away to help out. She was very annoyed about it but my dad told her she had to.
Despite going into labour many times my daughter fought to stay put and was born tiny but healthy,
My mother on the other hand has never forgiven me for missing her trip she tells any one who will listen that I caused it. My parents travel every few months so its not like it was her one and only chance.
So the other day the subject was brought up again and this time directed to my 6 yr Los as she was told it was her fault her grandmother missed that trip. This was the final straw for me. We both nearly lost our lives and I am incredibly grateful that she is here. She is the light of my life.
After nearly 7 years I actually stood up and said something about the fact that both her daughter and granddaughter nearly lost their lives and that's the reason she missed her trip. It felt. Really good to have finally said something . Empowering almost. Anyway just thought I'd share. It's really difficult when loved ones don't understand. But as my dad said they've ever been through it how can they.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
She always likes to tell me she thinks my PE wasn't as bad as my younger brother's cancer. She just mentioned it during Christmas. Ok my PE was over 7 years ago and my brother was diagnosed with cancer 15 years ago and we both survived and have moved on so why she feels compelled to bring this up all the time, let alone compare our completely different situations is beyond both me and my brother. My other brother said her, well gee mom, one's a slow death and one's a quick death so who cares which is worse. I don't know what goes through her head sometimes.
Anyway, these relationships can be complicated and throwing the tension from a major health situation seems to bring out the best in some and the worst I others. I'm glad you took a moment to just reject her messed up thinking.
