Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I have not been active on this message board in several months, and even when I was here daily, I did more reading than posting so I may not be remembered. Regardless, I wanted to say 'Thanks' to all those who gave me encouragement and advice when I blind-sided by PEs in mid-December 2009. When I got out of the hospital, and was on-line investigating, I came across this site and found the stories of others to be educational and inspiring.
I am doing well in my recovery. In January, after basically no physical activity for more than a month, I set an unreasonably aggressive (so I was told) goal for myself: running the Boston Marathon in April. I have worked very hard, and suffered a few frustrating set-backs, but on Monday, I will toe the line in Hopkinton for the 114th running of the Boston Marathon.
Thanks again to those who gave me encouragement, who told me their recovery success stories, and helped convince me that I could do this. I hope you are all doing well, and continuing to improve.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Training for and running a marathon are the perfect metephor for recovery from a PE: slow, steady, set backs, patience. It's perfect.
Life is good. This is proof. Best of luck and enjoy your life!
