Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I have had 2 teeth extracted today! Under anaesthesia at the hospital..
I stayed on Coumadin and went in with an INR of 2.7.
My surgeon was fine with this as I it was considered less risky to leave me on it.
Anyway it all went well, the bleeding was controlled with a few extra sutures.
I let the dr know about my fear of bleeding a lot. He was great, said I would bleed more than the average person but that it was manageable and not to worry.
I'm feeling a bit sore but hugely relieved, not only that the surgery is over but also that the teeth that have caused me huge pain are gone.
I ask a lot of questions and the docs generally give me very honest answers and put my mind at ease. We work together to plan out the best course of treatment for me. I am on this drug for life and am overcoming fears and hurdles regularly.
Next challenge, the iron infusion. Although a little scary I'm looking forward to the benefits of the treatment.

Hi, that's great! Glad it went well and you took care of business. If you can get through having teeth pulled out of your head, the iron infusion will be a breeze. You'll be fine!

If they start bleeding again, bite on a moistened tea bag. I did that after my wisdom teeth were pulled and it really helped. I'm glad it went well

Glad things went well! I really think asking enough questions to be comfortable with everything is the way to go. Sounds like you were on top of it!
