By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Still Good Days and Bad Days

I felt pretty good this week. Was able to work a little longer. But today, I felt crappy. Short of breath and just run down. My INR is still 2.4 as of Thursday and that is good. But there are still bad days. And, of course, really good days. Today is 5 months from diagnosis. I asked one of my cardiac nurses if I should push myself. I come home from work and can hardly stay awake. She told me LAY DOWN, take a nap. And then get back up and do a little more. Of course, I also have congestive heart failure which is not helping recovery. On the good side, my blood pressure down, my diabetes they found with the PE is regulating...good A1C last week. I've lost 30 pounds since my diagnosis and all my bloodwork is coming back good. Or at least I'm on track. Just got to take the good with the bad.

When you start having more good days than bad, then you know you've turned a corner. So you just still take it a day at a time, Lynne. It's so positive that your blood work is coming back good and the weight loss will just help your overall health. You've come a long way and I hope you feel really good about that.

I think you should be very proud of yourself!! Congratulations. It takes knowledge and will power to do what you have done and I hope the payoff will hold you in good stead for many years to come!

Wow! So much improvement and good news! Congratulations! I would think that it would be expected that you feel tired and run down some days with all that healing your body has been doing. Your body has been working extra hard and those naps are probably much needed!

I am proud of myself. A few months before the PE I had slipped back into some of my old eating and lack of exercise habits. This was one heck of another wake-up call. And in a lot of ways I feel SO good again, I do not want to back slide this time. Last week was the most I worked and perhaps still did a little too much I was feeling SO good. The last 2 days, I am so tired. I went to work this morning and only lasted 5.5 hours and had to come home. I took a nap, got back up and lasted 3 more hours and I am dog tired again. Maybe instead of fighting it, I need to rest today. I am taking tomorrow off.

Fatigue has been my biggest challenge in my recovery. I've learned that when I feel tired/exhausted/completely spent, I need to just go take a nap. You can't do anything better for yourself.

Wow you have certainly been battling but losing 30 pounds is amazing! The ups and downs of fatigue can be baffling but you just have to go with the flow and rest when you can - not always practical advice, but neither is the don't go on car, plane,train trips of longer than 3hrs - do my Drs know how BIG Australia is? My mum lives 4000+km away!! I think drug clexane was invented for a reason - so we can live our live post PE without too much fuss! I hope the fatigue is lessening today.

I think I 'found' the 30 lbs you 'lost'!!!!!
