By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

starting 3rd week off Coumadin

I just wanted to let everyone know my dizziness and fatigue were gone after the first week and half of being off of Coumadin. So for me, at least, the Coumadin really was causing those symptoms. My brain is clearer also...I wasn't imagining the brain fog. The first week was a little anxiety ridden, but it has been better day by day. I have been taking an aspirin every day. Whether I get to stay off remains to be seen. More testing, another hematology appointment and my pulmonary physician is also looking over everything himself and taking a personal interest, which makes me feel a little better. I shared copies of articles that others have linked to here with him. Thanks so much to everyone here! This is such a great site. Oh and here is some great news! One of my daughter's ended up being tested and she is negative for Prothombin Factor 2, which I have one copy of. That was so relieving to me!

I'm so glad to hear your dizziness and fatigue were gone after the coumadin. Those have been my worst symptoms (aside from "normal" PE pains) these last 6 months. I would be THRILLED if they go away for me too!

I'm so envious----- since I'm a lifer I'll never be free from the fatigue etc from C.---- until another, safer drug is made.

Here is a site where it's all 'self-reported' symptoms which means there's nothing to back up what the people are saying. But then that's what we do here at DS, which is a sharing of experiences.

The scoring system at the site is a bit 'weird' :

Key to Ratings: 1=LOW (I would not recommend taking this medicine.)
5=HIGH (this medicine cured me or helped me a great deal.)

Something else I'd like to comment on----- and it's a fairly common side effect: feeling cold.

I haven't had that (fingers crossed) but so many people here complain of that also. I wonder what might cause that? Rhetorical.

Cave, I get cold all the time!! I took my jacket into the Dr. office the other day (it was 90 outside) and she thought I was loony! I just get really cold, especially when it's really warm outside and I go inside someplace with AC! Hopefully (I'm sure!) this symptom will disappear with the coumadin too!

Jenner------ I hope you'll report back to us about which side-effects disappear after no C.

That will give people hope------those who are on C for just a proscribed amount of time.

I definately will!! Evelov is the second person to go off recently who has said dizziness, fatigue and brain fog went away, so I'm really hopeful that will be the case for me too!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
