By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
As for the smoking, there have been other recent posts on this. It can be really hard to quit, even after a PE -- and maybe especially after a PE. You might try checking out the stop smoking group for more support on this.
I shall take your advice on the smoking and search around.
I would try to just not get too amped up about stuff. I know it's hard. It's very normal to feel anxious and stressed and scared. But just try to relax and rest and just take it day by day.
Going for ANOTHER CT scan of my pelvis this a.m.. Benign it may be, but it's STILL IN ME. UP since 1 a.m.
