By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I'm 11 months post PE. Doing ok. I just caught a bit of a radio bit where I think a medical professional was talking on what desk workers should do.
He was stating, put the printer on the other side so you get up to get the paper. He said stand up while talking on the phone. do some work standing up. Do meeting standing or walking.
I went from doing construction work to stock trading where I would sit for 8 or more hours then watch TV another 6 hours. I'm sure that was the main factor in my DVT and PE. I read even some young people who do computer games for long hours have died.

They said its more common than you'd think, not just aeroplane trips but coach trips, fishermen that sit in the same position, theatre goers, people that are drunk that fall asleep in awkward positions. In fact anywhere that you restrict blood flow for 4 hours is a problem. Who knew sitting could be so risky!
