I think you can get a pulse ox meter at a walgreens or CVS. Not sure how much they are but I've seen them on the same shelf were they have blood pressure readers.

I gotta say, for me, I'd be a wreck if I had the pulse ox machine because I would constantly be checking my oxygen and it would just feed my compulsive nature. Not a good way to spend one's time. But if it would give you comfort, then that may help you.

It is possible to clot while on warfarin, and while in range, but it's really unusual. I suspect that for the majority of people for which that happens, they have some kind of genetic clotting disorder or something like that.

I think sometimes people that clot easily just have the wrong range if they re-clot. For the average clotter, the range tends to be 2.0 to 3.0. For someone who has re-clotted in that range, then it was clearly the wrong range and they'd be better to stay in a range of 2.5 to 3.5.

Just like everything with warfarin, I think it may take some trial and error to figure out the correct dosage and the correct range for each person.

I have the pulse ox meter, I bought mine on ebay and paid far less than Walgreens, but had to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping from Australia. My cost was around $25.

It has relieved my anxiety because it only takes a second to check. I have gone to the hospital when by ox dropped under 95 but it was heat related.

It was worth the money to me.

The pulse-ox meters cost about $20.00. But don't get it. it will drive you nuts as you are always checking it. You will feel heavy chested or short of breath for a while. if they let you out of the hospital then your oxygen saturation is fine. Stay busy and keep your mind off of it. Believe me I know.

And it doesn't really prove anything either. Many people have had clots with a pulse ox in normal range. Again if it gives you comfort then sure get one, but I think really getting in touch with your body, assessing what's really happening vs what you imagine is happening is a better way to determine if whatever symptom you're experiencing is a PE, or rather just anxiety or something else. I think that's a more rational way to live. But like I said, that's me. I know I'd be checking that pulse ox every time I felt something. When I first had my PE, I checked my heart rate obessively. Finally, it just occurred to me- what the hell am I doing this for. It proves nothing and it makes me feel crazy.

All valid points on the pulse ox (apparently my brain wasn't working when I couldn't remember what it was called lol). I guess I will have to figure out what will work best for me. I am not confident with my ability to assess my situation at this point, despite it being 6 months. But, I AM working on it!

I actually went home on oxygen after my double PE and was on oxygen for 4 months. I purchased a pulse ox from amazon. Love it and probably paid $25 or so. I was using it alot in the beginning but it was a good indication of what was going on with my oxygen. I have been off of oxygen now since May and am doing fine. I still will check it occasionally just for good measure. Best $25 I ever spent. Gave m piece of mind. good luck to you

I was on oxygen for three months post pe. I know the pulse-ox gave me peace of mind.

My doctor had a patient re-clot while on warfarin and he was at 4.0. Depends on the person and depends on their situation. I would say those with clotting disorders are in the toughest situation. I better take my own advice. I am having a VERY hard time being compliant with my Lovenox shots right now.

I did get my pulse ox at Walgreens and while it has been great it seems 3 digits higher than hospital grade ones. Would really like a respironics one.
