Hello everyone:

I have a question about taking a dose one hour after it was suppose to be taken. I usually take 5mg each night at 6:00. However, I was doing something tonight and briefly forgot to take it. Subsequently, I ended up taking the 5mg at 7:00pm. Will this have an effect on my INR level? Thanks for any input.

I have taken mine late before and haven't had any issues, although I didn't get my INR checked the next day to see what happened.

I usually take mine anywhere between 6pm and 10pm. Never had an issue. Warfarin doesn't clear your system as quickly as a lot of drugs, so you should be fine if you're off by an hour or two in your dosing.

Same as Toss, I usually take within a 3-4 hour window. Sometimes I take it a little earlier too if I've got something going on.

Occasionally not taking it at the same time every day is a sign you 're starting to settle back into the business of day to day life.

I have never had an issue with taking my warfarin a little early or a little late and that is within a four hour window. I'm on it for life and I can't see watching the clock every day. I have COPD as well and I don't want these nuisances to define my life. I follow Dr's orders and that is enough for me.

I also have missed a dose by an hour or two and never had any problems with my INR, I try to take it at 6pm every night but life sometimes gets in the way or my forgetful mind goes on its own journey lol. I have asked my ACC clinic and they said as long as it isn't on an ongoing basis and fluctuate too much, they said you become more therapeutic if you are consistant on the timing of your doses, so I try to be.
