Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
A few tears now and then are probably OK, but if you find it is taking over your life, consider seeing a therapist for a few visits to help you sort it out.
I used to do that too ... lie in bed and walk through the whole 24 hours before I was diagnosed. After a while, it became less immediate and I didn't do it as much any more. There really isn't a good way to stop doing that and I'm not sure you need to. For me, anyway, revisiting it just meant that I was processing it. At some point, I came to terms with the whole thing and I think that was when I started sleeping better.
Hope that moment comes to you too! Thanks for the update!
Thank you for posting. I am 14 weeks preganat and got dignose with bilateral PE's 3 weeks ago. Im so scared about the radiation to the baby, but the ulstrasound was fine.
Im still pretty unwell, i cant walk more than 5 steps at a time without being out of breath and coughing a lot.
Im very scared about the birth as the injections i am on means i cant have an epidural and i am a wimp!!!!

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to find another mum who's going through PE while pregnant. It's not easy to go through this! It sounds like we have the same concerns about the radiation from the CT scan, but I find I'm worrying less as the pregnancy goes on. I can;t do anything about it now, and I really had no choice but to get the scan so I could be diagnosed and treated. I didn't know that about not being able to have an epidural. I know I'm going to be induced and was also for my last pregnancy (for non-PE reasons) and the contactions were very strong and really close together so I had an epidural. I'll ask my obs about that at my next appointment. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. It seems everyone's recovery is different and it still hasn't been that long since you had the PE. Take it easy and rest as much as possible. I find I have good days and bad days and I usually hit a wall at around 4 pm and I just need to lie down, and sometimes I do for the rest of the evening. Feel free to send me a message if you want to talk some more.
I've messages you . I feel so much more positive since joining this forum yesterday it's taken the feeling of being alone away xxxx
