By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I had my PE at the end of April, its been just over 4 months now so I just thought I would give a little write up of how everything is going so far! :)
I'm feeling sooo much better! My strength is returning by the day, I can stay on my feet for 8 hours once a week in work now without being in too much pain. I don't feel stressed or anxious about anything anymore.. Every now and again my lungs feel tight and slightly hurty but nothing unbearable and only when I am really tired or have been exerting myself more than usual. At the weekend I went to a music festival :) Just for the day (my other half wouldn't let me camp) and my chest was hurting a little and my leg ached walking about, but I sat down whenever I needed to and managed to spend the entire day there and stay on my feet for all of the headline set which I was really pleased by!
I was so happy that I managed to do something 'normal' without my body being too evil to me. I couldn't do anywhere near as much as I normally would at a festival, couldn't stay on my feet as much as I would have liked, got tired a LOT quicker than usual. But thats to be expected.. I'm just happy I had an amazing time!
I started back in work 4 weeks ago and even though I was incredibly nervous about it it was the best thing I could have done. I really think that going back to doing something every day has made me feel a lot stronger..!!
I had a Mirena coil fitted earlier today with the approval of my warfarin nurse and, whilst it didn't hurt that much going in (a little bit of toe curling face cringe kinda of sharp pains a couple of times), OH MY GOD did it hurt after..!! I had the worst ever period pain for about 4 hours after it.. so bad that It actually brought tears to my eyes whilst my other half could only sit there and feel bad for me! It doesn't hurt at the moment tho.. after a sleep and a couple of painkillers it went away.. but by god it was awfull at the time!!
Just wanted to share to everyone how I'm doing at the mo.. and show that it really can get better..!

Sounds like you had a great time, really pleased you were able to enjoy the festival! I also have the mirena coil, it killed after for a few hours but I love it! I don't get any periods at all, the odd cramp every few months but that's it.
It's good to hear about people moving forward after these rotten clots :-)

My Warfarin nurse, Docs and ladies at the birth control clinic said I would be fine. Apparently the progesterone doesn't enter into your blood stream as it stays in the womb and therefor has a very low risk for clots.
Originally I had a progesterone implant but it was reccomended in the hospital that I have it taken out. I was desperate to get some kind of birth control so I asked my doctor about it and did a lot of research online and was told that I would be o.k to get a Mirena.
I don't think they were that worried about me, as there was a direct cause behind the clot, I damaged my knee and was off my feet completely for 3 weeks so they thought my birth conrtrol contributed little, if anything, to the PE.
