PE on Xarelto

Anyone develop a new PE while on Xarelto? My PE was in Feb. I had no symptoms. I had DVTs in my right leg post ankle surgery. Only known risk is compound heterozygous two mthfr genetic mutations. All the negative news on Xarelto has me nervous. I had my 6 mos check up and clot stable. But they won't scan my chest again. I have had pains in my right side in bottom rib cage. They are not constant, but hurt when there a few times a day. Anyone with input on possible new PE on X?

Pain like that is normally down to the PE recovery, i experience it myself and I clotted in Jan - only a month before you.

I met with a consultant hematologist today who is an expert on anti coagulation. I asked the same question "can i clot again on rivaroxaban". The response was it is very very unlikely for people to clot again on rivaroxaban and will only happen in a very unlucky subset of people.

And I think that can really be said for any anticoagulant. But I do get that there's so much still to be learned about with the newer anticoagulants so I do understand having the feeling of, "how do I know it's working?" I would probably feel the same way even if the chances of clotting are very slim, I suspect. But I think for people with a clotting disorder, I can understand the concern.

The pain could be residual PE recovery stuff. So many of us have had on going intermittent pain post diagnosis. It could be too that maybe you're getting a little worked up about the Xarelto stuff and so you're hyper focused on your body, feeling things more acutely than you normally would. With that said, pain in that area is often associated with gallbladder issues.

I think if the pain is concerning to you, consult your doctor.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
