Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Thanks for the replies so far; reason I was asking is because I have missed work many days to care for myself......trouble with pains in legs, being tired etc......when I first had the dvt and PE my human resource guy said that dvt was covered under ADA......I am afraid to approach again, one year later, because I'm not sure if I am still covered. I miss on average 1 to 2 days per month because of all the pains, tiredness etc.
Just thought I would post question to see if anyone out there knows the answer.
Again, thanks for the replies, I am too afraid to ask at work and I have been getting a lot of flack from my crazy supervisor.
Work does require me to stand for a few hours at a time, I teach...so I have to stand. I just want to know what supports I can get out there......I am soo afraid to bring this up with anyone at work.
Thanks again!
R. L.
I don't think anyone wants to fall off a ladder or cut their hand with a boxcutter ... I wouldn't worry to much about that either. Be careful like you usually are and just focus on how nice it is to have a steady paycheck!
RL, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time about the ADA question so sorry if it came across that way. I just have a different approach on the issue. I think a lot of how we view ourselves plays into how we physically and mentally feel. I can't see myself as disabled because then I'd start to believe it. I think, if I can walk across a parking lot to a mall to shop, I can work .It goes back to my parents being hard asses about missing school!
I survived a massive PE in both lungs, and two separate DVTs and now PTS in my leg. That actually makes me feel strong, despite some minor limitations I now have. I feel like since recovery up to now, I want to prove to myself how much I can do. Again, this is just me. I do understand that people have to do what they have to do and their DVTs / PEs may be so damaging and devastating that they cannot work, and god knows it's important to stay employed so I get that more than anything. Good luck!
