One year post PE stopping Meds

The doctor reduced my dosage to every other day for a month and there were no problems. Now I am completely off. Now my DVT leg hurts. Not my calf but in back of my knee. I do have some damage to the vein/flap. Does a new DVT form that quickly? I have had no anxiety about stopping the medication until now. My question is for those who stopped did they experience any of this? I will call the doctor tomorrow but any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a lot of pain and fullness behind my knee since my DVT. I think it's all PTS related so it really may just be that.

I don't exactly when you went off your anticoagulant completely but I did develop a new DVT 6 weeks after stopping warfarin. How likely or not likely that is probably depends on whether you have clotting risk factors. So I would just check in with your doc just to get his thoughts.

My second DVT was in my arm, not my calf like the first DVT. And the symptoms were completely different. I didn't have redness or swelling, just tightness; my skin felt like a rubber band was pulling it on the inside of my elbow. It was constant. Then within a week of that, my upper arm started hurting, like someone punched me in the arm really hard. It didn't let up. So based on those symptoms alone, I'd be hard pressed to say, oh that feels like a DVT; I truly just had a gut feeling it was a DVT. So I called my doc and she had me come in, examined me, did an EKG to make sure it wasn't heart related (left arm pain is considered a heart attack symptom sometimes) and then sent me for an ultrasound. The rest is warfarin for life history.

Sorry I know that's not helpful. I think if you're concerned and it's really nagging at you, doesn't hurt to check in with your doc.
