By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

One Thing After Another!

Yicks! It is just NOT my year! I have been back to the ER twice, admitted one over the weekend for a pesky, we think, sinus infection! A couple of weeks ago, I started having vertigo and bad headache... didn't go away and my BP went off the charts! Went to ER, got CT and BP meds (more) and told sinus infection... take doxy and will be OK... NOT.... this past Saturday, feeling no better after 7 days on doxy, my BP again went over 200/100 and I'm on meds... back to the ER and this time my primary care wanted me admitted to observe and have an MRI to rule out something else..... everything came back fine.. MRI A/B and Echo... home again finishing up doxy.... so yesteday i called my dr. and asked for a different antibiotics... got the Z-Pak this time... checked with coumadin clinic and adjusted dosage ... although not really as the doxy didn't increase INR... was 2.1 in ER. I SO hope that this clears it up! I'm so nervous taking so many meds while on warfarin... this is my last month on it and saw light at the end of the tunnel until this! GRRRRRRR!!!!! OK, done carping for now!

Wow! You've been through quite a lot I totally feel your pain! I had a whopper of a sinus infection soon after my PE and they are NOT fun. Thankfully all your tests all came back normal!

Hopefully Z-Pak will help and your back to normal soon. I'm not on any BP medicines so I can't speak to that but i'm sure a few peeps here can. I do know that Z-Pak didn't affect my INR at all.

Hang in there! You're almost done! And vent as much as you need to =)

I know the feeling!! Between giving up alcohol lat last year, my 20yr old son having an as yet unexplained seizure in January and having his license suspended as a result, then my PE, now heart palpitations induced by caffeine are forcing me to give up diet coke and an abnormal pap smear that has lead to minor surgery later this month for biopsies - I'd like to hit the rewind button on 2012 and go back to Jan 1 and start again! But we must just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Life often throws things at us in bundles but then life is smooth for a while once you get to the other side - so I think 2013 will be an amazing year for us;)
