By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I see Serena cliched the wimbledon title done - well done to her and all of the PE sufferers who quietly behond the scenes show the resiliance to pick themselves up and work through the bad patches

I kept staring at her legs to see if one was bigger than the other like so many of us. I do think one of her legs is bigger!

Indeed, she is an inspiration to all of us. I have severe asthma as well, and finding that each day brings new challenges. BUT, i have not given up and have regained a lot of my "old self" back.

I'm finding this extreme heat to be harder on me this year than last. But i'm just thankful that i'm here to experience this extreme heat!

Onward and upward!

I'm glad for Serena but I expect she had the age, physical conditioning and medical care to help her get through better than a lot of other people.

I love Cave's joke about playing the violin after the operation!!! LOL

This heat is getting to me even though my lazy clots are finally dissolving but leaving me with COPD still......... hard to breathe. But, I agree, it beats the alternative!!

Serena probably had the best medical care possible---- perhaps except POTUS.

Forbes showed her income for AS OF MAY 2012 at 13 million $$. And still climbing.

And she was fit and young and got to the doctor/ER right away----- those all have to play into her recovery.
