By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Coumadin is a fairly cheap med------ but even so getting some help with getting the brand name (rather than generic) if that's what you want----this might help.
I used NeedyMeds years and years ago and they were a life-saver.

My post, perhaps misunderstood, was for anyone who is (sorta low income) has no insurance and needs Coumdin.
It has nothing to do with what an individuals insurance will or won't pay. Some of the meds are available even if a person DOES have insurance---- but I didn't check on that for Coumadin.
Oh, and sometimes if your doctor puts on the prescription---- Brand Name Only, Do Not Substitute then the insurance does have to provide it. The only drawbacks might be---- if a particular insurance company is really hard-nosed OR if a person might have to pay a larger co-pay.
