Once you have had a PE you are more likely to have another one...I didn't have any pain, but my lungs felt odd..If I had that "odd" feeling again..I'd book it to the ER.

I think what Jo means is that she never really read about PEs in the news before having one herself, but now they seem to be cropping up.

I had heard of DVTs before my PE, but not PE itself. I am definitely reading and hearing more stories about clots, but that's because I probably ignored them in the past thinking it had nothing to do with me!

Yes exactly Sirchristo. I knew that people could get clots from traveling and childbirth, but that is as far as my awareness went. A whole new reality now!

My knowledge on PE's came from Deadliest Catch, and Ice Road Truckers before my PE.

That would be an interesting study to see if they are covered more frequently now. For myself, I definitely hear it more often but now I'm paying attention.

Honestly, I feel like I almost never see clots mentioned on TV. The only time I can think of was when my husband and I were watching "Dr G: Medical Examiner" who does autopsies and tries to figure out cause of death on strange cases.

She had a young woman who had dropped dead while out at lunch with her husband. The patient had recently started BC pills and smoked. My husband and I didn't even need to watch to the end of the show to find out what the diagnosis was!

Literally like a week after I left hospital I was watching morning t.v. while waiting to head down for a blood test at my GP. It was a programme on BBC1 (the main channel here in the UK) about different cases in an A&E department.

There was a lady who drove buses for a living who had collapsed at work. She was brought in with severe shortness of breath and had recently returned from a holiday abroad with a long haul flight. I had to miss the end of the show to get my bloods done but I had a pretty solid guess at the diagnosis!
