By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

March is quickly approaching and still no word on a DVT/PE pin. I even considered getting a bunch of red ribbon with a gold pen and writing on them "STOP THE CLOT" to hand out in our hospital. I can't even find brochures to hand out to go with the ribbons even if I make the ribbons myself. What gives? It's amazing nothing is available for Blood clot awareness but everywhere you look there are pins for breast cancer awareness, Womens Heart health, and everything else under the sun. OK If I remember correctly 300,000 new cases of DVT's/PE's are diagnosed each year. And more people die each year from blood clots than breast cancer and aids combined. People we need to get the word out. Blood Clots truly are the silent killers and we as survivors need to get the word out.
If anyone has heard of where we can purchase lapel pins for blood clot awareness let me know please.

@RetiredNavy02 - thanks for the info. just visited the clotbuster link you posted and sent out an email requesting some of the wristbands. and if you find some pins hanging around, please post a board message - i'm sure there are a number of us that would love to have them to help increase awareness.
