But I haven't seen any pins, bracelets or anything else. I too would purchase some.

I keep on considering making a flyer and putting it on my office door, or sending out an email to work colleagues but I don't know how people would take to it. I don't want them to think I'm thinking all about myself even though I have their best interest in mind and I'd like to get the info out there. I also fear that people hear of DVT/PE and think that I'm making up the fact that it's very dangerous and deadly. I have this feeling that people think in their head "It's not like she has cancer, or something, why doesn't she stop talking about this."

I'm conflicted.

I'm not sure if NBCA will have any new pins (see my avatar) available. I know I had ordered about 500 of them last year but not sure how they were/if they were, handed out.

Roland Varga, aka the ClotBuster, does have the wristbands and technical jerseys (biking) available. You can always check out his website.

The DVT Coalition has pins but I am not a fan of them. Originally they wre a nice red ribbon with DVT on it, then they changed it to Sanofi-Aventis' new design which coordinated with their design a sock campaign. The DVT ribbon turned into a red sock with the words DVT on it. Not quite a patient awareness pin in my opinion so am not a fan of it.

I'll be talking to the Lovenox Senior Product Manager about their plans for March and will see what they will be offering for awareness pins.

I think that a month of awareness is certainly needed! Also having recurring clots should be grounds for getting medical assistance just as much as diabetes is now.

Very sad news. I found out today that my best friends son who is 33 this month was just hospitalized with multiple PE's in both lungs. He is in critical condition in ICU. I feel so frustrated and helpless not being able to get the word out and even if I do what can I do to help stop this crazy disease. I do what i can to raise awareness to DVT's, PE's and Blood clots. I am approaching my hospital Thursday when i go back to work to see what we are planing for Blood Clot awareness month. Thanks everyone for helping me to locate the pins but so far I've had no luck finding any.

Membere of the healthcare professional can get a DVT kit for local awareness initiatives from Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceutical. Sanofi created the DVT Coalition which is who runs the March DVT Awareness Month here in the U.S. The National Blood Clot Alliance is also a member of the Coalition as the only Patient organization (all other are medical professionals). Anyways, here is their resource page where you can download and print material:

I'll find out about their kits for healthcare professionals since I don't see it this year on the website. With Lovenox now being available as a generic, Sanofi is spending less on nation wide campaigns then it used to. Eventually another organization will need to step in to continue this national awareness campaign. I'm hoping NBCA (www.stoptheclot.org) takes this on in the future.

March is also the month that I am done with warfarin! Well, if everything goes as predicted.

Tom, or any other, is this only in the US? How about the UK? I would like to help somehow, even if it is only increasing awareness of the condition. I am constantly communicating with my anticoagulation clinic (under the NHS) so let me know if I can be of help.

Tenerife, the DVT Awareness Month is for the U.S. only. Sanofi-Aventis, makers of Lovenox, are the wheels behind it here in the U.S. Sanofi does have a Europe/UK initiative called "Stop the Clot" but it is not a designed awareness month. You can find out more about this initiative at:

@ferr - basically i'm bumping this thread in case anyone is aware of a pin for DVT/PE. i looked around on the national hemophilia foundation website (they deal with runny blood *and* clotty blood), but i didn't see anything there either.

NHF has little involvement with clotting patients and what they did do was done through collaberation with the National Blood Clot Alliance.

Stoptheclot wristbands and technical jerseys (for cycling and running) are available from Roland Varga's Clotbuster website:

NBCA does have some stoptheclot pins; but not alot. I think they are charging $2 per pin. Since I helped to create it I'm partial to it over the official DVT Awareness Pin that is part of the March campaign.

I will look into in my pile of resources to see if I have any of either designed left. I will upload the StopTheClot pin to my photo album on this page.

The original DVT Awareness Pin (which I liked) that was part of the March DVT Awareness month can be seen in my avitar. Sanofi-Aventis decided to make the ribbon to combined with their design a stock compaign and chained the ribbon to a pair of socks (hate them (yuck).

If I find some pins laying around I will be glad to get rid of them, first come first serve basis. Will post what I find and then those interested can message me thorugh this site with their address and I'll get them out to you.

Not sure if you are on Face book, but some one stated an event to promote blood clot awareness. I'm planning on posting risk, and such this month. I know it's not much but imho it is better than nothing.
