I have needed to do this once when I had a colonoscopy. This time is for out patient surgery to complete my reconstruction I started about seven or eight years ago. I was nearing the end and actually thought I was done three years ago just before my last surgery when I was diagnosed with Factory V Leiden which had resulted in a few small PE' s in my left lung. But as it turns out I need another surgery which has taken me nearly three years to finally decide to do it. I am anxious and was happy to finally be getting to this point. But now I am getting nervous as surgery is next week and I started lovenox today. I remembered to use ice to numb the area a little, use alcohol on a cotton ball to clean the area and a dry cotton ball to dry the area, pinched my stomach and put the syringe in on an angle. It still burned some what when I pushed the syringe after the needle was in. I also applied the ice after with slight pressure to try to cut down on any bruising that might happen. So far I only see a small needle mark. So any helpful hints will help me get through this a little easier. Last time I had to do this it was for five days prior and then ten more after (after with warfarin as well) so I felt like a pin cushion for sure. I'd lime to avoid some of this feeling and can't help to think I am missing something here. TIA.
