By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Life insurance?

Hi there,

Has anyone tried to get life insurance after having their PE? I'm in the process of trying now and don't have a response yet. I wonder if I'll be rejected and it's freaking me out a bit. I have Factor V Leiden and had the clots when I was pregnant.

Yes. I was able to get it but the agent told me they would not pay if anything happened to me within one year of my PE.

Yep, I was able to get it. Couldn't get long-term care insurance though, just because I'm a lifer on warfarin.

It depends on the insurer and the plan. I got declined when I wanted to add more coverage to my existing life policy.
