By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
i went back to work 2 weeks ago and although im just working 3 days a week (and just a couple of hours at a time) i had to call in sick today. I have a rather stinky cold and my throat feels like broken glass. I decided to stay home rather than a) risk getting more germs and being worse and b) passing germs onto my colleagues. This week i had been feeling almost normal and was really enjoying my few hours in work and im hoping that this is just a wee setback. Had my chest checked again by the dr and she assures me there is no infection so thats good. Monday 5th March I am due to see the professor again regarding my repeat CT scan results. INR was 1.8 yesterday so have increased my warfarin again - im used to this cycle of events now! More blood tests in a week. It really is a rollercoaster ride this PE recovery! LOL - for those that understand the anxiety I had myself convinced this week that the tight chest (due to my cold) was more clots and i swear i had pains from my ankle to my thigh in my left leg - all in different areas - never all at the same time - i convinced myself this was a massive DVT and was sure my INR was going to be very low and that i would definitely need heparin injections. After chatting with my DR who was sure that this was not the case they have miraculously gone! just disappeared!! Anxiety has a lot to answer for but if anyone at home DARES to suggest such a thing i really want to slap them! Obviously i think they are just talking nonsense and trying to dismiss my aches and pains..... lol - it turns out they are right! It seems i just dont know my body at all!!
I'm really glad that you felt relief after talking to your doc and also that you are stepping back a little and examining everything. Also, that you're able to laugh at yourself a little. All steps forward and all good!
as for increasing the dose - my dr does the increases gradually - ie if my inr is 1.6 say he would increase it maybe by 1mg per day but this week it was 1.8 so it was increased by 1mg on alternate days. It means its not jumping drastically all over the place.
