So sorry to hear about your partner's new pe's. Thankfully they are small, and she caught them early. I know your experience and compassion will be of great benefit to her and her recovery. Best of luck to both of you and, of course, keep in touch!

at least she has more knowledge about pe's than any of did getting out of the hospital. Something good that came out of your illness.

Thank you everyone! After 26 hours in the ER, the poor thing was finally moved to a room. The good thing about all of this is that they were so small, they at first were not even sure what they were. Had I not mentioned to them that she had surgery a few weeks ago, they never would have looked for clots. She had bronchitis before her surgery, it got better, and then came back again. After another round of antibiotics, she was not getting any better. So the ER doctor was ready to write it off as allergies. That is when I mentioned the surgery and possibility of clots (I am sure I annoyed him! LOL) He did a d-dimer which came back as he put it... "well.... it wasn't negative." That is when he ordered the CT scan which had questionable findings.
What is the saying... when it rains it pours? LOL That has been the last year for us, loing before pe's too! But, the way I look at it, we are here. And when I say that, I mean not just she and I, but everyone here on this board. No matter how bad things seem at times, they can always be worse. That is my motto anyway. :o)

You know this is the way I found out about my PE's as well. Went to the ER for something else and checked in for 3 days because of several small PE's. For me I have learned when in doubt have it checked out, it ended with this being genetic (Factor V Lieden) for me. You may have just saved your partners life.

:( Thats no fun...sorry that you are both now going through this. I really hope you both have a speedy recovery. And plan a vacation for six months from now!

Glad they found 'em before they became big PEs! Nice to have an in-home support system! Get well soon to you both!

OH GOOD GRIEF, Go Figure. I'm sorry but Jean your right I guess when it rains it pours. Thankfully you were with her and used your wisdom to wake the ER doctor up a little and made him pay attention. As was mentioned earlier thank goodness you are there as her support, you know the ropes and can help her through this. God Bless you both, and both of you get better soon.

Just a little update. She was released from the hospital Friday.... no coumadin or lovenox. Apparently, the teams (3) of doctors could not agree, nor come up with anything conclusive. So, the cons of being on thinners outweighed the pros for now. The upside however is we both know what to look for.
