By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
has anyone else noticed that thier worldview is drastically shortened since thier PE?
i dont know when it started after mine, but ive noticed that i rarely make plans more than a couple weeks ahead of time anymore. my girlfriend and i were talking the other day and she asked where i saw myself in five years, and i kinda snickered and said my immediate goal is waking up tomorrow
its kinda nice in a way...i find myself living for today instead of worrying about tomorrow. ive also learned to let go of all kinds of unimportant crap that i cant control and concentrate on expending every ounce of energy i have on things that i can do something about. i might be tired most of the time, and my stamina is still for shite, but because ive had to learn to ration my energy to get through the day a whole lot of unimportant clutter seems to have fallen away from my life.

Every year I celebrate a "bonus year" with my family. It's like having a new birthday.
So now, I have another miracle and survived the PE and flat lining in the ER. I guess I get even more "bonus days".
I think that the experience has givin me a unique view and appreciation for my life and the time I have with the people I love.
I classify people with this view as "bonus day people".
