Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I can't remember; did you have your heart checked with your PE? I'm not saying you have a heart issue, not at all, but that can be an issue for some people if they had a significant PE.
How I dealt with the fatigue initially was to rest when I felt like I needed to rest. I went back to work full time a few weeks after my PE and I'd basically sleep when I got home until the next morning. I did this for a couple of weeks but it slowly got better. So I don't know how you get through it except to rest. However, I think there's a balance too of pushing through it which I think is a trial and error thing for people. Because I think too much down time is not good for building back stamina and what not. But not enough rest can take it's toll too,
I wonder if it might help you to dial things back a little bit. I'm not sure where you can cut from your schedule, but it sounds like the teaching and coaching is maybe just too much for you. If you're using all your energy there, you might just not have enough left for the healing you need to do to get past the exhaustion.
I'm not on Xarelto, so I don't know anything about whether it might cause the exhaustion, but that is definitely something to talk about with your pharmacist and doctor. It's a question worth asking, for sure.
I had "bouts" of exhaustion up until about 11 months or so, but they got less severe and less frequent over time. You really do need to give yourself some time to rest and recover ... if you've been teaching/coaching since you were diagnosed, it doesn't sound like you've given your body much time to heal at all. Or, at least, you haven't given your body as much time to heal as it thinks it needs. :-)
Hope you find a good balance soon!
