Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

We finally decided to get a Keuric Coffee Machine. Since I don't drink coffee (dh and dd do) I thought I would try both the Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate and the Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time Tea. Well I tried a cup of the tea on Sunday and it was actually very relaxing. So since we are having a cold front with extreme cold temperatures I am sitting here with a cup of tea. Then I thought I should check it out to see if it is actually safe to drink. So I found a few links that indicate it can have an adverse reaction with Warfarin. So does any one know if this tea something to avoid all together or in moderation like cranberries and other vitamin k enriched foods? I just changed my PCP and am going to a clinic for my INR checks. They are really good and very thorough. Told me to call any time for any thing. So I do plan on calling them tomorrow to ask about this. Since I am not used to drinking it then I really will not miss it if I can not have it. But just thought I would ask for now.
Here are the links I found the information from:

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
"Since Chamomile has blood-thinning properties, people on blood thinners such as Coumadin and Warfarin should not consume this tea."
"Chamomile contains coumarin, a naturally-occurring compound with anticoagulant or blood-thinning effects. It should not be combined with warfarin or other medications or supplements that have the same effect or be used by people with bleeding disorders."

There are more. Since warfarin interacts with more meds and supplements than I've ever heard of (sigh) find a good drug/herb/drug interaction site and investigate.
About these interactions---- sometimes they're small (not that I'm suggesting that anyone experiment without their doctor knowing.) And everyone is different. A member here has written about having chamomile tea before bedtime and she's still alive. LOL Having 5 or 6 cups a day would probably show up; 'probably'.
I presume that pretty much anything OTC and herbal/supplemental in nature MAY impact my INR, but to what degree and whether it affects everyone is the unknown. You don't know until you experiment a little.
I'm always learning something new on this site :)
It doesn't have any Vit K in it, just as other teas don't--- zero. But it does have an additive effect (or is it subtractive?) when combined with warfarin. IOW-----might make warfarin either stronger or weaker. Obviously that doesn't happen with everyone.

WRONG!!!!
Find out what YOU can have, don't become a prisoner of anticoagulant therapy, everybody reacts differently to it and also to the amount of said baaaaaad food or activity.
I'm not saying to splurge or binge, I'm saying don't make the treatment worst the the condition.
Same with me.
