Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

anyone been diagnosed with high cholesterol after having a PE?
i wasnt tested for this until this week after my opticician noticed cholesterol deposits in my eyes. I have had some bloods done but havent got the results yet. I have read up about it this morning and apparently the two can be connected - infact im wondering if thats whats causing the feeling in my neck - its a strange feeling like its from a vein - its been the one thing thats been consistant from the start and its never gone away even while on the warfarin - no one else ever seems to relate to this and even though ive mentioned it to the dr's no one has seemed to think it important????? Im maybe just making assumptions needlessly but i would be interested to hear from others.

I had bloods done on Thursday after my doctor noticed orange patches above my eyelids, which could be a sign of cholesterol being stored oddly apparently... I'm waiting on the results too...
Not had any odd feelings in my neck though, but have had some blurred vision which I mentioned before.
Will be interested to see what's said about both our results then x

I think cholesterol relates more to clots in the arteries (think heart attack risk), not the veins. Clots form completely differently in the two. I also had pain in my neck post-PE, there was never any explanation for it although the doctor would check and feel my carotid artery and he always said it felt fine. The pain eventually went away on its own.

Were the cholesterol deposits IN your eye or ON the eyelid or surrounding area?

About two years after my PEs, I was diagnosed with cholesterol levels well over 300. They were doing some presurgical testing for sinus surgery I had in November and found those numbers.

I can't blame it on the PEs, since I know the last time I had my cholesterol measured (probably ten years ago now), I was over 200 and that was well before I had any clots.

Anyway, started with Lipitor and my numbers simply plummeted. I was back into normal range (around 150 or so) within six weeks. My doc said she had never seen such amazing results. Hoping to be off the Lipitor later this year and we'll see if the numbers go back up.

I really don't think it has any connection to the PEs, but hard to tell. Bodies are complex organisms.

the cholesterol spots were in the back of my eyes - it was the optician that noticed it and mentioned that i have high blood pressure too - thanks for all the info guys, csteeps i get my results thursday - we can compare! lol

Just thought I'd say I too have a funny feeling in my neck that comes and goes...the first time I got it , I thought that I was having a stroke or heart attack, my face goes numb at times also...I was sent to have a scan on the veins in my neck ( I'm sorry , but I can't remember the term used)..Anyway all was well and we have put it down to the warfarin,or Anxiety...My docter has a patient that also has the face pain and numbness besides me, The feeling does feel really weird,but as long as the powers that be arn't worried , I keep telling myself not to as well..Ah just saw Shilosmummy s post...the carotid artery..thats what they scaned ...

thanks guys - that feeling in my neck has really worried me a few times, its not a pain but just a feeling that i know somethings going on and i had never had it before my PE - you know when you just know theres something but the Dr's dont seem interested when i have mentioned it before. I occassionally have a slight numbness on my face on my cheek but it never lasts more any more than about a minute and doesnt happen often. Did any of you get a pain under your left arm? I had this in the early days for a couple of weeks then it gradually went away. Ive noticed it just slightly the last few days - at the time it happenned I went for a mammogram and a scan just to check however there was nothing to be found. ??? The list could go on and on and on - dont we just become such worriers....... it freaks me out at the thought of having a stroke or something.
