By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
i recently had my second clot while on plavix.i was put on plavix due to a number of serious hemorrhaging episodes on warfarin. i am on 80 mg of lovonox 2 x daily. life has been a very scary up and down roller coast ride for the last four and half years. for now i am on the lovonox indefinably with the hopes of being able to stabilize and resume being able to use warfarin again. yes for life. this last one caused a 75-80 % blockage of both of the main pulmonary arteries.
the hematologist said they have a clot rating system. if the radiologist is the only one that can find it, it is not to bad you'll be fine. if the doctor can find it it is a bit more serious care must be taken but you be fine. if a first year medical student can find it you are in grave life threatening condition. he looked at me and said a first year medical student could have spotted it from across the room. you were in grave condition and very lucky to be here.
I also discussed with the hematologist about the usefulness of my filter. i was told it is absolutely useless it is also in part a place of formation of the clots and it can't be removed. it is to dangerous. the easy way was tried and failed the only other was is major surgery and to risky. i just keep running into walls. so now i am afraid that i have a useless filter and have been hearing about all the failures on coumadin. i was wondering about the failure rate of lovonox. i was told that these last clots would have killed me given another day or less. i never thought i would get a clot after the first one because it was from a known cause. know i am told i have factor 5 lieden and doctor tested me for a genetic hemorrhaging disorder which would make sense.He says i have a hemorrhaging disorder i don't remember the name of it. i have had so many episodes of hemorrhaging. i am only 52 and refuse to live my life afraid of moving and doing things there is to much on the no no list that i will learn the safe way but can't give them all up. i got to function. life is fun. i love to do things for myself which is Another way of saying i get my self in trouble a lot more although i have learned my boundaries a lot more but i still have a lot to go.
in using lovonox it is unfamiliar to me and i am more fearful of the unknown statistics and reactions. is their anyone out their been one lovonox for a long time with the possible expectation of being on it for life please share. i can't live in fear I'm to stubborn for that thanks

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? If your hemalologist isn't giving you good answers about what is happening to your body with hemmoraging and why things are going on, by all means seek a second opinion. Keep asking how and why until you understand. It is so frustrating when things keep happening and we don't know why!
One of the great things about Lovenox is that you don't have to be checked for Pt/inr like coumadin. Oh, and your diet will not affect the drug at all. Eat anything you want, and no problem with Lovenox.
