By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I have my follow up CT this Wednesday, and just putting it out there that I am nervous about it. PR Dx was on July 1, so coming up on 5 months of treatment. According to all my testing I am supposed to come off warfarin Jan 1. Just a bit scared they'e going to find new ones and the whole game changes. I had some lung damage as well, so I still some days can't get a full satisfying breath. Although in general it's better than it was.

I guess I adapt just like I adapted to getting them in the first place. But it just feels as if I am waiting for the other shoe to drop......

Just venting a bit, is all.

I think I know how you feel. It's only been three weeks since my
PE, and I've been thinking about how things will be in a year.
What will my scan show, will stopping treatment cause me
to get another clot ect... You've made it this far, keep going.
The most difficult part of the race is right before you cross
the finish line.

I totally agree with Chris--On Tuesday I will be one month since my diagnosis and admit to the hospital for multiple PE's and infarctions. I was told 6 months of anti-coag therapy. I'm already nervous about what my life will be like. Its perfectly normal to be nervous. You have made it this far...stay positive and hope for the best. Let us know how it all goes:)

I am with you. I was diagnosed July 1 also! I continue to get better and my echocardiograms confirm the clots are resolving and the heart is returning to normal. I will go off coumadin in January also, and know what you mean about the other shoe falling off. Let's keep each other informed and go through that part together ok?

Another bridge crossed. Had to hang around the imaging center because they had to call the doc with results in case they needed to treat me for anything.... was a nervous wait.

But was told the CT was NORMAL! :) So, blood clots are gone, another month or so to go on the meds. Interesting Richard that we have the same Dx and go off meds date. Good to have someone to share that with.....
