By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
1. I had a Factor V done in the hospital on 7/1, negative, but the hematologist said that's the wrong one ??? Not the mutation, I guess. Anyway, hema took blood for a FV test on 7/15, and I still don't have any results.... I keep calling and pestering, since it's the last one on my panel. Anyone know how long these results take?
2. Factor VIII. I guess F8 has come into vogue as a risk factor, and my hema tested for it. Got the results of 220, reference range is 50-150. I have done a bunch of reseach on my own, and found one study saying over 150 is a 4 fold risk (or close to that), then a later one saying only over 234 is a 7 fold risk, everything under that is not bad.
F8's been the only real positive result so far, so i am obsessing over it, but can't seem to find much information despite a LOT of digging. My primary question is whether anyone knows is F8 can be elevated by the presence of clots. The test was two weeks post diagnosis, so the clots were still there.
I assume I'll go back for another round and was just wondering whether anyone has had an elevated F8 and then later was normal or lower....

I see many dependable sites...
What I was looking for was actual experiences with these issues (i.e., anyone had to wait 3+ weeks for their FV test, and anyone had an elevated F8 in the acute phase reaction (presence of clots) and then tested lower on resolution)
Other then academia, there is not a whole lot of personal experiences of F8 that I've been able to find. I thought this was a resource to ask questions like that, but maybe I am wrong.
Guess I'll just stick to google then

If I remember correctly, I had to wait six weeks for the results of my tests.
My Factor VIII was something like 128%, but I'm not sure whether I remember that correctly. That was a good six months before I started having breathing problems.
The only notable result was that I was FVL heterozygous.
As for F8, it's my understanding that it can read high during the acute phase of your clot, so they should re-run that test a few months down the line. My own personal experience with something similar: I had a high Lupus Anticoagulant reading on my initial blood test (which could indicate antiphospholipid antibody syndrome) but like F8, that can be elevated during the acute clot. They re-tested a month later and the LAC was no longer present. Hopefully this will be the case with your high F8 reading.
