... in the dictionary it says that equivocal means "of uncertain significance"... so not sure what this will mean to you... maybe thats why they didn't tell you, as they;re unsure how significant it is at the moment and don't want you to worry. Give them a bell and see what they say. Try not to worry too much though, if it was major surely they MUST have told you... sounds like your a little closer to finally getting some answers though. ugggh i really feel for you

As has been said, "equivocal" means doubtful, uncertain, or indeterminate. Basically, it means that the right atrium chamber of your heart is not filling with blood quite properly but for an ambiguous reason or in an ambiguous manner. I was not able to find an exact definition for the terms, but there do appear to be a number of possible causes, many of them benign.

Let me say this from having looked up many things as a patient advocate: Having some familiarity with terms and conditions is valuable to help you talk with your doctor and formulate the kind of questions that get informative answers. Remember that it never substitutes for the information from your doctor, who is the only one who is qualified to interpret your particular medical testing.

There are many things, for instance, that one can read online or in a medical report that sound ominous in general but that can be very benign (harmless) in your particular case.

One thing you can rest assured of: if it was truly horrible and required immediate attention, you would have been told about it right away. I hope that helps set your mind at some ease.

I was told that it was another way of saying the infarction... I was just seen by another specialist and he said the pain I am having is that I am over exerting my self when I literally have the lungs of and 80 year old since the emboli was so bad, and it will take a long time for the tissue in my lungs to rehabilitate themselves, I sleep with heating pads on both sides of my lungs on the floor, it is the only comfortable way. but if someone hears different please tell me. Like I said I going to see the best in my area this week... and believe me I have a list of questions

I am calling my cardiologist tomorrow... I dont think he has ever got these results only my gp got them... I was referred to him in Nov and the scan was in Dec and I didnt know about the heart thing so I just told him about the clot still being there... Dont think he ever got the actual report or scans... Also, bringing this report with me on the 8th to the pulmonologist.

I am okay just a little anxious about it all.

You are smart to take charge of your care. After you send them, follow-up to make sure they have arrived to insure that attention has been called to them. Plus, I have had many records sent from one facility to another that never arrived. A cardiologist will want the films in addition to the report.

I have the films w/me but they cant keep them because i need them for my other specialist lol
