By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I have had a CAT scan and multiple blood tests and still no clue what caused the multiple blood clots in both my lungs. I had no risk factors and no symptoms of DVT or PE.
Has anyone else been told that there was no detectable reason??
This frustrates me no end since I don't now what not to do and the thought of staying on the anticoagulant for the rest of my life with all the side affects makes me sad.

Do you get anxious?
You doctor could recommend a Holter monitor test-(portable EKG) to look for arrhythmia's.
