Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
My plan is to eat greens as normal (because they're so good for you), but I am also increasing foods that are known to thin/make blood less sticky. These foods are:
garlic (stops platlets in blood sticking)
vinegar (I have lots of this anyway)
Vit E (although too much is not good for you - best to get Vit E from fruits/veg)
Berries
Cranberry juice (I might take a supplement of this, as this is a really good one)
pomegranate juice (as this is a wonderous fruit on all levels)
dark Choc (research shown it can aid stopping clots - although too much not good for obvious reasons).
I have also heard folic acid good, but cant remember why, I just have it in my book to take after I have had all my genetic tests along with all of the above.
Someone also said alcohol - i.e a healthy glass of red wine a day maybe - I am unsure of this, as alcohol also dehydrates and so the good might be outweighed by the bad.
Water, water, water is the best and that definitly helps keep the blood circulating better - it makes sense - it dilutes us.
All in all, eat healthily, exercise and drink water is the best advice I think, but I am interested to know what others think too.
