By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Daughter went I for another thrombectomy

Ok my daughter had a thrombectomy last Tues. 3 weeks after my PE. She was admitted again yesterday and they tell me she has new clots in nearly every main vein and they had to do another thrombectomy today. My PE was due to hysterectomy now here comes the genetic testing. I just can't believe we went from healthy to both my daughter and I have clots at the same time. I still have alot of pain in my left shoulder that aches constantly and how across my back does anybody else have this?

Really sorry to hear that your daughter is dealing with all this too. Hopefully they'll figure out what is going on with her. She has clots in both legs, yes?

I actually had no pain until about five weeks after diagnosis. Then I had pain on and off for another nine months or so. The more active you get, the more you are pushing your healing lungs. The pain in your shoulders and back (which is where I had mine too) is very normal for PE recovery.

I'm sorry too.

I didn't have pain until after my PE either, and it involved my upper back and shoulder as well. So yeah, this seems pretty common,

Sorry to hear ur story. I think ur pain is normal. I had a lot of chest pain for about 5 months. Excruciating to begin with to the point I couldn't really talk as the vibration or something of talking made my pain quite unbearable - was on morphine, OxyContin, tramadol and it still had me in tears. Spent 11days in Hosp mainly due to requiring IM morph injections. I'm about 10 months out now and still get times of pain lasting a few hours to a few days depending how much I pushed my lungs.
