I ended my coumadin therapy on March 3rd, 2008. Approximately a week later, I got pregnant. We were ecstatic. We didn't expect it to happen so soon. The doctor immediately put me on lovenox injections. Things were going so well until almost my 12 week mark, at which time I miscarried. We were devastated. Now, almost a month later, I still sit here and wonder what caused this. I know everyone says most of the time it's unknown or it's a woman's bodys way of saying something wasn't right, but I feel like I want an answer. I've been trying to research online and they say, first of all, coumadin does cause birth defects which is why they switch you to lovenox when you get pregnant. Secondly, coumadin can stay in your system for up to 5 days. I'd just like to know if there are any woman out there who have had miscarriages shortly after coumadin therapy and if so, have they questioned the same thing or been told it's a possibility?
