By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Does anyone else cough up brown clots or brown mucus?

Well, you don't actually cough up the clots, but coughing blood can be a symptom of PE. I personally never experienced it, but from time to time here someone will mention having that.

It could be just some residual stuff coming up from your PE or just from being on anticoagulants. I'd mention it to your doc though, just to see what he thinks.

I sneezed up a huge blood clot when I was in the hospital for my PE. I don't know if it was a clot coming out of my lungs are what, but it was pretty freaky.

I coughed up some blood early on, but it was quite bright red. It was only for a day, and it happened right after I was diagnosed.
