Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

we talk so much about our fears of getting another P.E. which is valid and something that we have to keep are silent watch list occasionally updated and refreshed to be watchful but not consumed.
what i find more disconcerting over the past five years is all the collateral damage. prior to the DVT's and P.E.'s i was never sick enough to feel it necessary to take a day off of work. i cared for 14 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in my home for 14 years 5 days a week never took time off for sick days. 14 years 1 sick day off now can't work at all. and it isn't even the P.E. directly. i worry more about what is the next collateral damage gonna be. can't find any places to hide from them.
fast forward few years DVT and P.E.. since the first embolisms i really never thought they would come back because of the circumstances which produced them. instead it was been so much collateral damage i have had a life time of being sick and not me any more. not all are directly related to the P.E.'s but the state of my immune system and the condition of my lungs and my bodies stubbornness to partake of any medication in a traditional manner. first it started with the chronic bladder infections. then sepsis. i.v. antibiotics caused c-diff colitis, bad reaction to antibiotic to cure that hospitalized again 8 days could keep nothing down. keep going numerous concussions seems i can no longer walk across a room with out just falling always on the right side of course has to always be on the tile floor can't be the rugs, oh i forgot i don't have any threw them out kept tripping on them., land on bad should, surgery 1,2,3 head injury vomiting for a week head ache stratosphere level. told now have chronic migraine which quite often require using someones good graces to take me to urgent care for morphine. we finally found alternatives that work way better. but i remember crying the first time the Dr. had to resort to that as pain control because THEY WEREN"T there before the p.e.'s.. chronic reoccurring pneumonia, asthma. hypotention/tachycardia fallout from that for a long time till Dr. got smart and figured it out i had severe hypokelemia very low potassium from meds for the heart rate. my level would get so low i would get calls saying you have 30 minutes to be at admitting have someone drive you. several hospitalizations out of that. chronic pain from being so deconditioned from so many "house arrests" that is my sense of humor way of taking Dr.'s orders of not being able to leave house for anything but groceries and Dr. appointments for so long. one thing after another after another after another. i average three+ hospitalizations a year in the range of 8 days each. never even to have my babies. almost goes without saying but the depression and anxiety that goes along with all the collateral damage. but with all that being said i live every day believing it has to end someday it can not possible stay this way forever it just can't. and slowly as things are identified and the Drs. and i work together to pick away at the mess some are going some are showing.
last night new one was lovenox new one on me i micro bleed covering my arms actually if it i didn't know that they are also clear down my esophagus in the form al sores with small bleeds, and i can't eat right now. i would start playing connect the dots looks cool. my arms look like all of my thousands of freckles are all bright red bleeds. 1 more collateral damage and four Dr's appointment's out of this and not done yet a pain in my a********....the embolisms almost seem like small fries with all the other things piled on top of it in last 5 years. i also goes without saying the unwritten others involved in all of this since i have not lived in a vacuum and the medical cost. like FERR says when she received her child's medical bills she laughed. i had one child in a similar situation, a twin born to soon born to let go of. he lived 17 days 23 years ago his bill was 123,000. i got it when the hospital called demanding payment i told them to crawl in the grave and get it i have nothing let to give what am i gonna do. that is in the days were my husband earned slightly above minimum wage . what ya gonna do. collateral damage out of our control. hard on relationships, budgets, sanity, self worth, personal sense of value.
IT HAS TO GET BETTER i have not been crushed yet just close a few times.
