Are you able to stand up and just walk in place for a few minutes at your desk while still taking calls? Also, if they're bringing you drinks that would imply people need to get up and use the bathroom, so I hope you are getting up and walking to the bathroom.

Seriously, if they were so worried about addressing high call volumes, maybe they could forget the water and actually hop on the phones to help.

exactly - if they were all covering calls then it wouldnt be as bad - think they were being really tight about anyone even taking a few seconds off the phones - im glad i wasnt there yesterday or there may have been a few interesting moments! why take chances? just not worth it! I know what i need to do and i stick to it - luckily i havent been challenged. ofcourse, toilet breaks are not in question - however they are timed! lol

Yeah, I have to agree with what RMB said. Wish more managers were willing to help instead of just telling you to work more. I've rarely run into managers helping in a standard office situation. When working at a bank and a bookstore, however, the managers were right in the trenches with us, which I really appreciate.

Take that liquid and take those bathroom breaks ... and see if your headphone is enough to let you stand and talk at the same time. I feel for you ... really do.

never thought of standing at the same time - good idea - head phones have a long lead but theres lots of typing to do at the same time but i will give it a try.

That's what I did- I had a head set and I'd pace back and forth while taking calls, sitting when I needed my PC. This was a long time ago when I was young and before I knew anything about clots. I just couldn't stand sitting that long.

Call center here as well. It is against the law to NOT allow you breaks. I work for a major credit card and they were sued because some people were not taking their full breaks. We are now required to get off the phone. And I take bathroom breaks. Beside allowing myself to move, I take medicine that it could be a mess otherwise. We do have some "slow" times and I do stand up at those times. Our desks actually can be raised so you can type standing up if you are so inclined. I'm not that inclined at my age. Actually, any sit down job puts you at risk.

I am one of the lucky ones who actually does the call center work in a home office. But I must still adhere to the same schedules and breaks as I would have in-office. Having recently been diagnosed and still getting my INR level adjusted, I have still not resumed work. Once I do, I will be mindful of taking as many calls as possible standing up, or else perform frequent leg exercises and stretches during my 8 hr shift. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
