Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Hello, i guess i havent been thru enough... Cut my head while on coumadin today.
...I was in a hurry this morning & went to slam the trunk shut (in tight quarters) & clipped my head on the corner of the trunk lift.. I'm still on coumadin so once i saw the bright red blood, it was over. My old friend, Good Old Panic, set in quick.
After spending hours in ER, the bleeding stopped w/o stiches. The said the cu was small but blled alot bc of coumadin. Could have been worse; My INR was low (bc my dr lowered it 2 weeks ago.. Even tho I did not agree.. but I guess it was a good thing now.. Lol..) They recmd that anyone on coumadin gets a ctscan to ensure no internal bleeding with a head injury..i did & all was well on it. Thank God! ..Got a tetnus shot and released after a few hours of observation.. Had headache & minor nausea but didnt need meds.
Came home, ate, went to sleep.. Woke up with a sickning, aching headache... But i guess its to be expected after slamming a trunk into my head. Hope all remains well. (My chest still hurts few x's/wk... No real explainations & frankly im sick of talking about it with drs.. After several days of heatg pad this week, took 1/2 of an rx pain pill yesterday afternoon to get some relief from pain when i breathe... Maybe i was still groggy from the pill bc my body isnt used to them anymore)... Good news is that my chest doesnt hurt today. The head stole the show.
Please take your time & be careful my friends.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Since ct scan looked good right after accident, I was advised to take my eve dose of coumadin.. The timing might be in my mind, but I think thats around the time the symptoms skyrocketed (shortly after). Has anyone had an injury & good ct scan & then bled later? ... Debating on going back.. But way to many scans (chest & head) this year... Lord, Help me..
One thing to take in consideration is that stress and anxiety can also cause those queezie feelings. Try and relax, and see if that's not better. If it doesn't let up, do call your doctor. However if the CT scan proved ok, chances are that nothing major is wrong.
Felt like I was hit in the head with a hammer.. Thankfully its letting up now. A nurse family member drilled me good about slowing down, being more careful... Esp during recovery .. Esp on coumadin .. Esp... Etc.. I think we all know that.. But then life & jobs get in the way.. I find myself rushing alot because I am tired allllll the time.. Not sure when that will stop..
But I thought I would take a moment to remind each of u to be extra careful & no rushing too.. We dont need any other issues. Thanks!
