By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I saw my gp today and gave him a list of ailments. I'm pretty much at the end of my tether so he's going all out with tests. My heart monitor showed some right ventricular? problem. He wasn't sure how significant it is so is asking a cardiologist to look at the results.
Anyway I've having yet more blood tests tomorrow and one is for antinuclear something or other(ana)He suspects I may have lupus, I thought this test couldn't be done while you were taking warfarin? I asked him and he just wrote on the form that the patient is on warfarin and wants me to have the test anyway.
Has anyone else been on warfarin and had this test done?

Really hope you're ok and feel better soon - poor you! I'm pleased to hear that your doctor is checking all areas though. I had that blood test whilst on warfarin - as they suspected that I may have lupus too...fortunately it came back negative. So I'm assuming that they can carry out that blood test whilst on warfarin!!! Thinking of you - keep us posted on how you get on x x x

I have a young doctor who was under the impression that one cannot have any predisposability tests while on warfarin. He is wiser now. Other tests that can be done while on warfarin include Factor V Leiden and PT 20210.
Thanks for the link to the other thread, I am positive for the PT20210 but the haematologist said the lupus test had to be done off of warfarin so they didn't do it.
